19 WAYS TO BEAT THE QUARANTINE BOREDOM

Posted: 31,March 2020 12:00 AM

We have this social responsibility as a whole species and not just as a nation to isolate ourselves. But isolating ourselves in a confined spaces even though its our very home will get to us soon. So here we come with some really interesting things to do keep us on the go all while we are fighting  the battle against the novel virus.

But while we list down these boredom beating ideas, let us keep in mind that we can keep doing these even after the quarantine is over.

So here we go.

1. GO EXPLOIT YOUR NETFLIX

Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hotstar have an astoundingly vast collection and genre of movies and series and documentaries too. They have some really amazing family movies along with some really informative documentaries that will actually change the way you look at the world.

2. GROWING YOUR OWN VEGETABLES IS LIKE GROWING YOUR OWN MONEY

However difficult this may sound it is not. The thing is instead od throwing the seeds away you have to pot them. Now which ones to pot are up to you. There are some that will need very less maintenance and some will demand a lot of care, so depending on the time you can give these plants, choose the one that suits you. And if vegetable garden seems overwhelming we suggest you start with herb garden and grow some coriander, dill, oregano, rosemary or mint. They need less and grow quick.

So put on your gloves and get your hands in some dirt.

3. TODAY A READER TOMORROW A LEADER

It is as true as it gets. You now have some really good and really peaceful time to start reading a book. And we suggest you start off reading at a time that will be convenient for you to fit in even you resume your daily hustle.

Pick some really good books and start reading them on your tablet or your phone. Once you really start to read there is no stopping you from reading.

4. MAKE YOUR SELF A PRIORITY

Amidst all our hustle we forget about taking care of ourselves and right now you can fit in some small acts of self- care in your schedule. It can be anything as small as sitting alone and going through a few memories of the day you are thankful for or just taking a while to ensure that you are looking your best everyday. Taking care of yourself is not selfish at all, it is important that you do take care of yourself so you can whole heartedly take care of others as well.

5. COMPLETE YOUR GUITAR FANTASY

If Ali Haider’s Purani jeans aur guitar has struck a cord in you to learn guitar or your impulsive guitar buying spree has some collecting some dust on it, get it out and start learning it. There are a lot of videos on Youtube that will help you from the basic.

And yeah [please be grateful to your family for bearing with you.

6. BATHE IN PEACE

This one might sound too simple but trust us, you need one. Try remembering the last time you were really relaxed and bathing instead of thinking “Oh I will be late”?  Yeah, its been really long.

Just add some additional steps to your regular bath like exfoliating your body of adding some nice refreshing essential oils to your bathing water.

So just go have a relaxing bath, but don’t forget we don’t want a water crisis .

7. PRACTICE SELF INDEPENDENCE

Here we are not talking about financial independence. What mean overall independence. Try doing your own bed, clean your laundry on your own, cook a meal or clean the house. No the women or men who are doing it do not hold the sole responsibility to do the work.

8. YEAH, THE MESS YOU CALL YOUR WARDROBE

It might have been a hundred and ten times that you have had this thought but we know how busy you were, even now, for this one thing you are still busy. But imagine the number of clothes you will find that you don’t remember buying.

So please go head to your room and clean the wardrobe!! Your mom will feel proud of you.

9. SELF EDUCATE YOURSELF ON AND ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA

This is something that might sounds absurd but is very important. Social Media is a boon to us at this time and we need to know how we can use it better for ourselves. It is a two-sided sword and you need to know how to make it productive. It has is boons but it’s bane are equally important to understand.

There are a number of reason why you need to explore this topic. To list down a few you need to be aware of privacy, overuse, virtual bullying, etc.

10. EXPLORE SELF SUSTAINABILITY

We all are well aware of the way mankind has been and still is exploiting the nature, not one as an individual, but as a species as whole we have changed what Earth is as whole. Though the exploitation was not done by one individual, but every individual has contributed to the worsening condition. So, we as individuals have to explore what it is to be self sustainable and how we can practice sustainability in our daily lives.

Practicing a self sustainable lifestyle is a small step but will go a long way.

11. BOARD GAMES ARE STILL A THING AND TAKE OUR WORD ON IT – THEY ARE AMAZING!

Ludo, Chess, Pictionary, Monopoly, Sequence, Dobble are some right on the top of our minds that make up for some interesting time with your family. These are some we have been playing since we kids and some that have joined the league just in recent times, but they all are very entertaining. And not just board games we have carrom and the wonders that a deck or cards can do are beyond.

12. MEDITATE

We have a very peaceful environment right now and a lot of time we can use to make changes in our lives. Meditation is one thing that guarantees result. It may sound boring but did you know sleeping is a form of meditation as well, and when did that get boring?!

Start small and that will help you develop the insights over time.

There are other things you can learn online too. Literally anything. There are number of tutorials on how to make things that are very interesting. Did you know you could make your own current living space very interesting by making small arts to keep around? Or you could also learn how to brew your own coffee or anything you have wanted to do.

15. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE – TAKES YOUR 15 MIN A DAY

This is a very interesting one. A new language to learn is a very interesting thing to do. You could learn the local tongue of wherever your bucket list wants to take you. It takes just 15 minutes a day if you learn it using DuoLingo. It really is very interesting.

16. MISS YOUR DAYS OUT THERE, TAKE A WALK BUT IN YOUR SOCIETY BOUNDARIES

This one is pretty self- explanatory. You don’t want to pull your hair apart by the end of the quarantine.

17. DUST OFF YOUR PSP AND TAKE THE CONTROLS IN YOUR HANDS

We here are addressing to all those gamers inside you, who have their gaming consoles put aside. It’s a shame you had to do it in the first place, we feel you., but now is your time.

18. MAKE A NEW BUCKET LIST

Yes, we know you already have one. Hasn’t it been a while since you last saw the list, you probably want to remove some and add a few new ones as well.

Hit the Refresh button on your bucket list!

19. EXERCISE

Yeah, this one is the last but pretty important. You don’t want a before after meme about your self from all the home cooked meals and the boredom you confused with hunger.
